Personal bank account
Opening a personal bank account requires a residence visa.
The personal bank account does not need to be with the same bank as the business bank account. In fact, this is quite rarely the case, as some banks are better for individuals than for businesses.
We assist our clients with opening it.
Account opening
Attendance required
Opening a personal account requires you to be present at a branch to sign the account-opening documents.
Opening time
The bank account is usually opened within 3 days maximum.
Personal bank cards
All banks offer the usual bank cards available on the market.
Prepaid card
Banks offer prepaid cards among the standard bank cards available on the market.
Debit card
Used in particular to withdraw cash from ATMs. A debit card debits the bank account directly.
Credit card
Used to pay at merchants, either deferred or not. It requires funds to be held: the held amount determines the spending limit.
Debit and credit: an important distinction
The distinction between debit and credit cards may surprise some residents, particularly those from countries such as France, where this concept does not exist in the same way.
With a credit card, the account is charged later, with no interest for 30 to 55 days depending on the type of card, and interest charged thereafter. You then simply repay your card to restore its original credit limit.
Cards from the MasterCard and Visa networks are available, from “basic” cards to “premium” cards.
