The residence in Dubai
When we talk about “residency in the Emirates,” this involves obtaining the following four elements.
Residence visa
Investor Visa, Work Visa, or Family Visa.
EmiratesID
Emirates identity card.
Driver’s license
UAE driving license (Driving License).
Personal bank account
Personal bank account in the United Arab Emirates.
What are the visa and Emirates ID used for?
A visa/Emirates ID is now required to open a business or personal bank account with a bank in the UAE.
They also allow you to rent accommodation, buy or rent a car, etc.
Residence visa and tax residency: two different concepts
Residence visa
If you spend more than 183 days outside Dubai between two trips as an employee, or more than 364 days as a partner, you will automatically lose this visa.
Tax residence
You must ensure that you do not become a tax resident of a country other than the Emirates because you meet that country's domestic criteria.
Our support fees
Employee / spouse / child
AED 2 000 for comprehensive support.
Associate
AED 4 000 for comprehensive support.
Points to note regarding residency in Dubai
Status change
If a residence visa is requested while you are in the UAE on a tourist visa, there is an additional charge of AED 1,600 to change your status to a residence visa.
Medical insurance
Local medical insurance is required for all residence visas. We can advise you on this.
Absence from the territory
Visas are automatically canceled if their holder spends more than 6 consecutive months outside the Emirates.
For an Investor Visa, this consecutive period is 12 months.
Driver's license exchange
For AED 1 055, it is possible to exchange a foreign driving licence for a UAE driving licence. This amount must be paid directly on-site; we assist you with this exchange free of charge.
For certain countries, including France and Belgium, the original licence is returned along with the new UAE licence.
Family Visa
For a Family Visa - spouse, wife, children - the person sponsoring them must have already obtained their Investor Visa before applying for their visa.
This type of visa is therefore not related to the size of the company's office - shared or private.
Driver’s license: countries eligible for exchange
It is possible to obtain a UAE driving license without retaking the local theory and driving tests if you have a license from one of the following countries:
Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Kuwait, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States.
