Time required to set up a company in Hong Kong

Documents, registration, bank account, and accounting software: the main lead times to expect.

Expected time frames

From preparing the application to opening the bank account, here are the four steps to anticipate.

01 — Prepare the documents

Up to 4 business days from receipt of payment.

The documents are sent by email, then must be printed, signed, and returned by express mail. Please allow at least 1 week for delivery.

If you are in Hong Kong, e-registration allows you to sign the documents on-site.

02 — Register the company

Up to 10 days to obtain the Certificate of Registration.

With e-registration, the company can be registered in less than 5 days.

03 — Open the bank account

Once the company is registered, the business account can be opened.

Allow approximately 1 week for an online bank and up to 1 month for a traditional bank.

04 — Install the accounting software

Billing and accounting software is installed and configured in less than 48 hours.

So you should allow a good month to be fully operational.
