The main types of insurance to know about
Health insurance
It is mandatory for all residents of the Emirates.
Prices vary greatly depending on healthcare coverage, from AED 600 per year to AED 15,000 per year.
You can purchase it directly from an insurance company or go through a broker.
Car insurance
It is not possible to register or renew a vehicle without car insurance.
There are usually 2 types of insurance: third-party and comprehensive (third-party liability for passengers, coverage for your car, etc.).
Some policies offer a replacement vehicle, roadside assistance, etc.
If you are going into the desert or to Oman, you must mention this in the insurance contract because these are often optional extras.
Home insurance
It is not mandatory but strongly recommended.
In particular, it is important to be able to be rehoused by the insurance company if the property can no longer be occupied, for example following a fire.
Travel insurance
We also recommend having annual multi-trip travel insurance to cover you in case of problems abroad: a skiing accident, hospitalization abroad, etc.
