Conditions for a family visa (spouse/child) in Dubai

A person with a residence visa in the United Arab Emirates can “sponsor” their family members. The duration of their visas will be the same as that of their sponsor’s visa. The family members who can be sponsored are as follows:

Visa processing times for family members (spouse/child) in Dubai

As soon as you have obtained your residence visa, rented or purchased a property in Dubai, and the documents to be certified are ready, we can submit the visa applications for your spouse and children. There are then 2 options for the sponsored person:

Case no. 1

She will be in Dubai for 3 weeks (from Monday morning to Thursday evening 2 weeks later) to obtain her visa;

Case no. 2

We submit her application to the Immigration Services 3 weeks BEFORE her arrival. She will then need to be present in Dubai for only 6 working days (from Wednesday morning to Wednesday evening of the following week).

Practical information

Emirates ID

Regarding the EmiratesID (= an identity card in bank card format): it is now required to make an appointment with the authorities to have your "finger print" taken. Currently, the waiting time to obtain an appointment is 3 weeks. To make this appointment, you must be present in Dubai and have already completed the medical examination. A maximum of 2 hours is required to have your fingerprints taken (we will of course accompany you). The EmiratesID will then be received at our post office box at least 7 business days after your fingerprints are taken (your presence is not required to receive it; we will of course keep it for you if you are no longer present).

Important points to note:

  • The person sponsoring the family must be physically present in the Emirates when the initial application (entry permit) is submitted;
  • Children under 15 do not need to undergo a medical examination for the visa or have their fingerprints taken for the EmiratesID.

The costs are as follows:

  • Authority fees (application, medical check, EmiratesID): from AED 2 350 (contact us for the exact fees, which depend on the company’s Register);
  • Our assistance fee: AED 2 000.
